Random Thoughts: I miss her

I miss my daughter. I have been finding it harder and harder to be away from my baby. I have always missed my wife while at work, but I can deal with that. My baby on the other hand… I find her an amazing joy to be around. I cherish every moment with her and every moment with her is wonderful, new and different. I see her smiling face when I come home and her cranky tears when she is overtired and I love her more. Every time I am forced to leave her, I feel like a major chunk of my soul is being left behind. How does one deal with that?

Random Thoughts: Creativity

Recently, I have been feeling an extreme desire to do something creative. I have a bunch of things in mind, but I can’t seem to find the time to do anything outside of routine. I know writers have writers block. I am certainly not creatively blocked, even though I am not a writer. Is there a term for being blocked by everything but creativity?

Random Thoughts: National Engineers Week

This morning I had to check on the intranet portal at my work to make sure my required training was marked as completed. (It was, if you care.) Yesterday, there was a big splash "ad" in the news section that showed a Black History Month banner. Today, it has been updated to identify this as National Engineers Week. Now, maybe its just me, but when something is called a "Week", I feel it should span 7 days. Sure, the banner says the "Week" is Feb. 18 - 24, but when you only post that on the 22nd in a work-related area, the "Week" only lasts from Feb. 22 - 23. Anyway, it really makes you feel special when your employer praises you for a whole week two days per year.
